Alamo residents evacuated after gas leak

People in parts of Alamo are being told to evacuate the area because of a natural gas leak.

California Emergency Management Agency officials say because of the leak on Danville Boulevard, people in homes and businesses on Alamo Square Drive have been told to leave the area immediately, and to go as far south on that street as possible.

Officials say the leak came after a work crew cut a 1-1/2 inch gas line on Danville Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Pacific Gas & Electric says the crew was a “third-party” crew meaning, it was a not an PG&E crew working in the area.

PG&E has sent its own repair workers to the scene to cap the leak.
