A woman who disappeared from Montara State Beach earlier this month has been found dead on a beach about 20 miles to the south.
San Mateo County sheriff’s officials say a body that washed up on Pomponio State Beach around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday is that of Ara Ghorgyi Ward.
The 48-year-old Ward had gone to Montara State Beach with her boyfriend on the evening of June 12 but disappeared some time after her boyfriend said the couple fell asleep on the beach.
The boyfriend — who has not been named — said when he woke up the next morning there was no sign of Ward.
The exact cause of her death is under investigation.
