For all of you last-minute shoppers and weekend wanderers, there is still hope if you haven’t put together an Easter basket or are looking for some festive activities.
Miette bakery, at 449 Octavia St., is open on Easter Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop is chock-full of candies, cakes and confections to satisfy any child’s sweet tooth.
To delight a more sophisticated palate, the bakery is offering two Scharffen Berger chocolate bunny cakes. Now is the time to strike, while the frosting is soft, because this bunny-shaped delicacy is only offered seasonally.
Miette also has you covered if you haven’t got time to scour drugstore aisles for pre-made baskets. For only $27 you can purchase an Easter basket full of candy-coated treats, a chocolate bunny and cookies.
If you can bear the rainy weather, the city is also hosting a number of Easter activities. The Union Street Spring Celebration and Easter Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m. The parade will start at 2 p.m. on Union and Gough streets.
If you’re feeling a little frisky, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is hosting their 34th annual Easter bash at Dolores Park. The festivities start at 11 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt and includes the infamous Hunky Jesus contest, where participants compete to be named the best Jesus look-alike.
However, if you’re looking for some non-denominational celebrations, try the annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel. Flags raise at 4 p.m. on Vermont and 20th Streets, where homemade carts will race down the crooked street in a hilarious and colorful fashion.
