Spring is never more visibly in the air than with the celebration of Holi, the ancient Hindu festival that lets you say “What up?” to the new season by throwing fistfuls of colored powder in your neighbor’s face.
While the main Holi celebration takes place this year on March 27, the party is already kicking off all over the world. At Friday’s “Festival of Colors” in San Ramon, hundreds of revelers showed up to Bishop Ranch to grub on food, listen to live dhol drummers and get painted with colorful powders called rhang.
SFBay photographer Godofredo Vasquez braved the powder slingin’ to bring you these colorful photos.
