Richmond Sunday Streets moves closer to home

It’s nice to take a stroll in Golden Gate Park, but it would be even nicer to take a walk in your neighborhood with your community.

That’s why Supervisor Eric Mar announced that the Richmond District’s next Sunday Streets event will actually take place in the heart of the neighborhood.

The tentative plan will include shutting down inner Clement Street to vehicle traffic, extending out to the original Sunday Street location way out on the Great Highway.

The Great Highway — the current location for the Richmond’s Sunday Street event — lacks the same feeling as other Sunday Street events in The City since it’s all the way on the edge of the district.

Richmond SF Blog explains participants try to make the most of location with street vendors and organizations setting up tables along the Great Highway, but nothing beats the feeling of engaging with your community in your neighborhood.

While Richmond residents await the new Sunday Streets location in October, they can still join their community at the next Sunday Streets event on the Great Highway July 7. That is, if they are up for the trek to the beach.
