As if a securing a spot in the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, the San Francisco Bulls are also toasting two of its players for getting some very well-deserved recognition.
The Bulls announced Wednesday that the team’s top scorers, Peter Sivak and Dean Ouellet, were both called up to the AHL. It is the first call-up for each player.
The call-ups come less than 24 hours after the Bulls clinched a playoff berth with a loss by the Bakersfield Condors Tuesday night.
In his first ECHL season Sivak has led the Bulls with 56 points in 64 games. He tops San Francisco with 33 goals, tying him for fifth in the league, and shares the league lead in game-winning goals with six.
The Bulls signed the 30-year-old Sivak last July after the native of Cheb, Czech Republic played 12 seasons in the Slovak and Czech leagues.
Sivak reportedly practiced with the Worcester Sharks Wednesday, and is expected to make his AHL debut Friday against the Springfield Falcons.
The Bulls also announced via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that rookie Dean Ouellet has been loaned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
In addition to being ranked second of the Bulls with 52 points, (24 goals, 28 assists) Ouellet scored the Bulls’ first goal in the inaugural home opener, tallied the team’s first hat trick, and represented the team in Colorado last January in the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game.
With CVs like those, we’d say boths call-ups were more than warranted.
The San Francisco Bulls host the Stockton Thunder this Friday, with the puck dropping at 7:15 p.m.
