Two teenage boys received an unexpected surprise after a man allegedly grabbed and tried to kiss one of them on the streets of San Leandro.
A transient named Michael Roy Flores, 49, first approached the boys for $50 to spare. After they said no, Flores allegedly grabbed one of the 14-year-olds by the arm and then puckered his lips to kiss the other.
According to San Leandro Police Lt. Luis Torres, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday, near 14th Street and 136th Avenue.
A concerned bystander intervened and escorted the boys to a nearby 7-11, Torres said. She stayed with the boys until Flores left the scene. Torres praised the woman’s actions to Bay City News:
“The actions by the Good Samaritan to immediately pull the boys away from the situation and staying with them until Flores left prevented any harm from coming to them.”
The mother of one of the teenagers later called the police that evening to report the incident. Police were later able to locate Flores and place him under arrest on suspicion of annoying a minor, Torres said.
