Driving down the freeway in the wee hours of the night can be freaky enough. It’s dark and deserted, and there’s just no telling what crazy creatures might wonder in front of your moving vehicle.
Like, oh I don’t know, two wayward horses posted up on the freeway off-ramp.
KGO-TV reports that the horses were seen just “hanging out” on the 680 northbound ramp in the Martinez area around 2 a.m. Sunday. Officials had to shut down the ramp while authorities arrived on the scene.
Can you imagine getting a call at 2 o’clock in the morning to go help get two horses off a freeway ramp? Neither can we.
With the help of the sheriff’s department and animal control, the CHP were able to get the two lost animals off the road and re-open the off-ramp not long after.
It has not been released who the horses belong to or how they ended up in the vicinity of the freeway to begin with, particularly at such an off hour. SFist has already speculated that the hoofed creatures were drunk and stumbling home after last call.
