Cyclist in fatal crash with cement truck identified

San Francisco police are investigating how a cyclist and a cement truck collided near AT&T Park Saturday morning, resulting in the bicyclist’s death.

According to police, both the cyclist and the vehicle were heading westbound on King St. when they collided for unknown reasons. SF police Sgt. Frank Harre told KTVU:

“[P]reliminary reports are that she was curbside on her bike, riding, and somehow became entangled.”

The driver stopped immediately after the crash, while the cyclist — identified as 48-year-old San Francisco resident Diane Sullivan — was immediately taken to San Francisco General Hospital. She died later that morning.

Police said the driver of the cement truck is cooperating with investigators, and alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as a factor.

The incident occurred while thousands of SF Giants fans were waiting in line for Fan Fest. Amongst the crowd were two nurses who stopped to help the injured Sullivan, police said.
