Veteran Bay Area sports journalist and broadcaster Ryan Leong has been named sports editor of SFBay, effective immediately.
Leong, 39, will direct sports coverage for the San Francisco-based media startup, which launched in November 2011 covering news, sports and culture in the Bay Area. SFBay is the fastest-growing news site in the Bay Area, currently ranked in Alexa’s Top 200,000 websites in the world.
For nearly 15 years, Leong has covered Bay Area professional and collegiate sports for major media outlets including ESPN Radio and Sirius XM Radio. His sports updates have been broadcast locally on KCBS, KNBR, and 95.7 The Game.
Leong has covered more than 2,800 Bay Area sporting events, including two championship seasons with the San Francisco Giants, and now a Super Bowl run for the 49ers. Leong has contributed local sports coverage to SFBay since October 2011.
