Warriors rumble past Jazz in Utah

Coming off a tough overtime loss at home to the Lakers on Saturday, the Warriors got back to work after the Christmas holiday by traveling to Utah to take on the Jazz.

The Warriors weren’t intimidated by Utah’s 9-2 record at home, holding the Jazz to 38 percent shooting in their 94-83 win.

The Warriors improve to 11-6 on the road on this season, matching the 11 road wins they tallied during the entire 2011-12 campaign.

Stephen Curry hit four three-pointers en route to 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and managed to avoid picking up a foul in 38 minutes.

After the game, Curry spoke about the big road win:

“We were on a mission to come out and play well, keep our road swag the way we have earliy in the year. Everybody stepped up and played a physical game. … We obviously know they play well at home and feed off their crowd. They play hard for 48 minutes. But we do the same thing.”

David Lee’s streak of 12 straight games with 20+ points ended up one basket short, as he finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Jarrett Jack added 15 points off the bench and wasn’t afraid to get into the face of Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter after Kanter swung an elbow at Carl Landry after a hard foul in the first half.

After the game, Warriors guard Jarrett Jack told CSN announcer Jim Barnett what the team learned from the loss to the Lakers:

“There were a few things. Shot selection, there were a few holes in our defense that we were able to fix. It left a bad taste in our mouth.”

Jack on the Warriors defense holding the Jazz to 83 points:

“They’re always a formidable opponent, especially in this building. A lot of energy from these fans, always been a pretty crazy atmosphere. And we just came out with a mindset and a focus that we would be determined to impose our will on this basketball game from the start.”

Jack had a lot of praise for Andris Biedrins, who had 12 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench:

“If there’s a game ball, it definitely goes to him (Biedrins). He came in against against an All-Star caliber player in Al Jefferson, played great defense, was a force for us in the middle, strong-side and weak-side. That’s just props to him for staying ready.”

It was a much-needed win for the Warriors, who now return home for three games starting with Philadelphia Friday night. Their 19-10 record is their best opening to a season since 1991-92, when they began 21-8.
