A little message to Giants fans who were sad when the team traded Andres Torres to the Mets last offseason: Cheer up. He’s coming back.
In their search for a platoon partner for Gregor Blanco, the Giants agreed to terms of a one-year-deal with the soon-to-be 35-year-old outfielder.

Torres had a career year during the Giants 2010 World Series run, but has struggled in the two years since. In 2010, the speedy outfielder hit .268 with a .343 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, eight triples and 26 stolen bases.
In 2011 and 2012 combined, Torres hit .226 with a .320 OBP, seven home runs, eight triples and 32 stolen bases.
Torres will get a chance to play in left field when the Giants are facing a left-handed pitcher and when center field Angel Pagan needs a break. He only made two errors in 124 games in 2012, so the Giants are in good hands in case one of their starting outfielders goes down with an injury.
