Millions in luxury cars vanish from sales lot

Shady business at a Sunnyvale vehicle consignment lot has some high-end car owners potentially out of thousands of dollars after their luxury vehicles were mysteriously towed away.

The dealership, full of an estimated 80 pre-owned luxury wheels, had its inventory towed off its lot last week. Conveniently, the owner of Sunnyvale Motors, located at 681 E El Camino Real, has also disappeared.

And so has its website.

Workers next to the car lot said they saw a tow truck emptying the lot on Nov. 30. Neil Musngi, a manager at a neighboring dealership, confirmed that the vehicles were pricey rides. He told the Merc:

“It’s big money.”

Car owners said the business passed the “sniff” test, and seemed legit — even though dismal Yelp reviews could’ve steered them otherwise.

Victims who spoke to the Merc said they were aggressively hounded by Sunnyvale Motors reps after trying to sell their cars on Auto Trader and Craigslist.

One seller, Peter Beyer of San Jose, is potentially out $54,000 for his 2008 BMW 650i. Another, Todd Parsons of Moraga, is awaiting to hear from a bounced check for his 2004 BMW valued at up to $35,000.
