Woman nabs ‘Bicycle Bandit’ with bear spray

In 1697, playwright William Congreve penned the term: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

Somebody needs to amend Old Bill’s famous phrase to: “Hell hath no fury like a woman with a sword and bear spray.”

Yes. Bear spray.

51-year-old Andy Anduha — known as the ‘Bicycle Bandit’ by his alleged Noe Valley victims — was arraigned Wednesday after being charged with an attempted burglary caught on camera by resident Sonya Yu.

What’s noteworthy isn’t just that Yu’s fiance set up the video camera to catch Anduha in the act. This woman shot the perp with bear spray then full-on chased him down the street with a Japanese training sword.

Yu had tweeted Anduha stole upwards of $1,000 worth of goods from her doorstep this year. And she wasn’t the only one who had been targeted by his thievery, either. Other residents had even caught him in the act of escaping and had taken pictures.

So, Yu’s fiance set up the camera in the house courtyard, and Yu put out a fake package, waiting for Anduha to return. The video footage — since taken down from YouTube — shows Anduha pick up the decoy package and leave the premises.

That’s when things got really bad ass.

Yu, who had been sitting on her balcony above her front gate, shot a stream of bear spray down at Ahduha on the ground floor before taking off after him with a bokken, or wooden Japanese sword, in hand. Ahduha managed to escape, but was nabbed quickly by nearby cops who arrested the debilitated and orange-stained suspect.

Following Anduha’s arrest it was revealed that he has a previous rap sheet — I can’t be the only one not surprised by that — which included several rape charges.
