Ike’s Place eyes move for SF flagship

The signature sandwiches, quirky names and long lines of Ike’s Place are ready to relocate from their original San Francisco corner of 16th and Sanchez.

Owner Ike Shehadeh has been seeking locations for a possible move when his current lease runs out next summer. He told SFBay he’d like to stay where he is, but also needs options:

“It’s not a guarantee that my landlord will extend the lease on the current location. My first choice is the location that I’m currently in. The response I have been getting is not from the Castro.”

Shehadeh told SFBay he’s been contacted by a location in the Lower Haight, but that all discussions so far have been preliminary and no decisions have been made.

He’s announced his plans via Facebook and is asking for proposals from San Francisco landlords. He said during his last move, he was contacted by more than 70 landlords hoping to land the popular sandwich shop as a new tenant.
