A Rohnert Park college student was hospitalized with a serious head injury after falling from a third-floor balcony in what authorities said was an alcohol-fueled accident.
The city’s Department of Public Safety responded to an emergency call at 12:50 a.m. that someone had fallen from the third floor of a Rohnert Park apartment. Within minutes, officers arrived at the Allegro Student Apartments to discover 19-year-old Sonoma State student Tyler Glenn’s semi-conscious body.
Rohnert Park DPS Sgt. Jeff Nicks told the Press Democrat that Glenn was climbing over a wooden railing outside the apartment when the wood came loose and he fell:
“It was a preventable accident.”
Authorities say Glenn fell about 20 feet and hit his head on the pavement. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
According to a statement from the DPS, authorities believe the incident was caused from “horseplay and alcohol use.”
