Family seeks slain mother’s car, killer

A family is looking for justice this week in the case of mother, wife and former school teacher Susan Ko, who was found murdered in her Hercules home last week.

CBS-SF reports neighbors went to check on Ko Friday night after she didn’t arrived to pick up her husband at the airport and wasn’t answering her phone. Ko, 55, was found unresponsive and her car was stolen. Police pronounced her dead at the scene.

While no definitive cause of death has been determined, the police are treating the death as a homicide.

Daughter Sandy Ko said Sunday via a website the family has set up to help find the stolen car and receive any other information about what happened to her mother:

“Our world’s have been turned upside down.”

Ko is survived by her husband, Kelvin, and children Sandy, Sophia, Diana, and Simon. Simon Ko put together the website to help find his mothers car.

While he wants justice for his mother’s death, Simon and his family are really trying to find answers to what happened last Friday:

“It’s easy to villainize this person. At this point, it’s about getting the facts straight and doing this the right way.”

Strangers have left tips on the website, claiming they’ve spotted the stolen Subaru Outback with Idaho license plates, but no sightings have yet been confirmed.

Ko had been an elementary school teacher for 15 years before she retired in 2006 and had served as president for the Chinese Association of Hercules. Her husband, Kelvin, is an insurance broker in Idaho, where the couple also has a home. He was en route from Idaho on the night Susan died.

Family, friends and other members of the community held a candlelight vigil for Ko Monday night at her home.
