Foodies flock to SF Street Food Festival

As all of you out in Readerland probably know all too well by now, Team SFBay is big on food trucks, food festivals, and anything that celebrates our love of putting exquisitely street-y eats into our mouths.

Particularly me, because I’m constantly hungry. All. The. Time. And despite my love for five-star cuisine, have a serious love for grub that comes from the side window of a truck.

And what better way to spend your weekend than shoveling finger foods and other truck treats in your gob, right?

Enter the SF Street Food Fest, being held this Saturday in the Mission on Folsom Street from 22nd to 26th Streets.

Put on by local non-profit La Cocina, the fete-du-foodies kicks off its fourth-ever festival with a record-high 70-plus vendors. SFEater.com — who has also put together a brief and friendly guide the event — tells us that some 80,000 food-lovers are expected to attend.

Familiar street food favorites such as Rice Paper Scissors and Banh Mi Love You Long Time will be present, as well as bartenders from Geary Street’s own Rye mixing cocktails at a pop-up on 21st Street.

The eateries are cash only, and La Cocina will have a station set up on 25th Street between Folsom and Treat where attendees can buy vouchers, as opposed to carrying around wands of street-food-stained cash.
