A 30-year-old woman has come forward to say she was attacked and raped on 19th and Capp early Monday morning while walking home.
A woman has come forward to a neighborhood website saying she was attacked and raped by two men near her house on 19th and Capp streets.
The 30-year-old woman told Mission Local she was walking home from Bender’s Bar at 2 a.m. Monday when two men grabbed her from behind and dragged her to a nearby driveway.
Police did not immediately confirm the incident to Mission Local. She told them that to her knowledge, police have made no arrests.
The woman said she came forward to the news site in an attempt to spread awareness:
“I don’t want someone else in this situation. Hopefully we can get people notified and be careful.”
She said she tried to fight back by punching and scratching the two men, one short and the other tall. After they attacked her from behind, she said they raped her in a driveway.
She later went to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and examination.
The woman said she is staying at a friend’s house following the incident and is unsure if she will return to the Mission for fear that the assailants may live nearby.
She said her perception of the area and her safety has now changed:
“I have been living in this neighborhood for seven years and I never felt particular unsafe. That’s certainly changed now.”
