Here’s an excerpt of the Webster’s Online Dictionary definition of a substance abuse counselor:
“Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems, such as alcohol or drug abuse. … May formulate and conduct programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.”
Maybe somebody needs to show this description to drug rehab counselor Kirstin Dempsey, who was arrested Wednesday following a search of her residence as part of an ongoing investigation into the sales of heroin from her home.
Someone whose job description is to help people get away from drugs, and homegirl is accused of selling drugs on the side.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said they found 6.7 grams of heroin, as well as packing materials, cash and other items they say link Dempsey to the heroin sales.
Sounds like a bad spin-off of Breaking Bad.
Dempsey is a counselor with ALTO Counseling Center, a program of the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center. She was booked at the county jail following her arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
