Police nab SF bank robbery suspect

Lately, San Francisco banks have been plagued by a string of withdrawals made the old-fashioned way: With a gun.

Specifically, the Marina and Financial District have been beset by an onslaught of armed bank robberies. On Thursday, police nabbed a suspect fingered in three bank holdups, one on Van Ness Ave. and two in Laurel Village on California St.

Police arrested David Conrado, 48, after he allegedly fled a bank on Van Ness. A bank employee followed the suspect out of the bank, then identified the suspect to responding officers.

Conrado was found with more than $6,000 in cash and evidence tying him to all three crimes, police said. He was identified by victims and witnesses in all three robberies, according to police.

Police have not linked Conrado with any other bank robberies, though time may tell if fewer banks are knocked off in coming days and weeks.

Earlier this month, police released photos of three men believed to have been involved in several separate San Francisco bank robberies. One suspect is thought to be missing three fingers on his right hand, and two from his left. Another suspect is a black man in his 40s accused of knocking off several downtown banks.

Conrado faces charges of robbery, burglary and three counts of possession of stolen property.
