Andrew Luck impresses future boss

It’s pretty much a forgone conclusion that the Indianapolis Colts will select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the NFL draft on April 26.

But that doesn’t mean Luck can just sit at home, twiddle his thumbs and wait for draft night.

Luck, the likely successor to Peyton Manning, spent the afternoon visiting with Colts management and coaches.

Tuesday afternoon, Colts owner Jim Irsay acknowledged Luck’s visit and showered him with praise.

And while Baylor’s Robert Griffin III declined to work out for the Colts, Luck plans to visit the Redskins. Both sides need to make sure they are prepared in case Irsay wakes on draft day, decides not to take his medication and drafts Griffin.

But in the wake of Griffin not working out for the Colts, it’s not likely that the Colts will pass on Luck, one of the best quarterback prospects in the last 30 years.
