Goodbye Monta Ellis.
Goodbye Ekpe Udoh.
Goodbye Golden State Warriors.
Your beloved Warriors just made a trade that makes no sense, especially after everything they’ve said publicly. They just traded their two best players, their two most valuable assets for an injured big man and a 33-year-old back-up forward.
For almost the entire season, Monta Ellis has been linked to trade rumors involving the Orlando Magic. The Warriors were trying to get Dwight Howard and were dangling Ellis. The Magic said they wanted Ellis, but refused to part with Howard. The Warriors said they’d only trade Ellis if they got a bonafide star in return.
Then they do this.
Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh (and Kwame Brown, if he even matters) for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. Yes. That Stephen Jackson.
[blackbirdpie url=”http://twitter.com/#!/WojYahooNBA/status/179725446101999616″]Bogut is not a bonafide star. He’s averaged 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in seven seasons. Bogut is also injury-prone, having only played close to a full season schedule twice.
Bogut, in fact, has a fractured ankle and hasn’t played since January 28.
What am I missing? Did the Warriors get a couple draft picks that are going unreported?
I can live with trading Monta. He’s the leader of the team, but the Warriors haven’t won with him. I can live with the Warriors brass flipping him for a young player or draft picks.
But I can not live with them dealing Udoh, who was really starting to emerge as a player the Warriors could build around. He was the defensive player that Mark Jackson has been looking for.
I desperately want to hear the explanation from GM Larry Riley and owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber.
But for now, you can stop watching Warriors games on TV. You don’t have to waste your money going to see them at Oracle Arena. There is no reason to watch this Warriors team anymore.

I guess we'll see how this all works out over the years but from what i've seen, Bogut is a legit NBA player. He isn't a player that has made an impact that Bogut has (and Bogut has made an impact since his first year in the league.) For a career Bogut has averaged 12.7 pts, 2 Blocks, 9.3 boards. Those are pretty legit numbers in my honest opinion. And you put this guy together with David Lee and I think you have a team that will take you to the next level.
