Driver does donuts, dunks car in Bay

For the second time in less than a month, some knucklehead has driven a car into a big body of water.

This time, the driver was allegedly doing donuts near the Gashouse Cove Marina when the car jumped the curb and plunged into the SF Bay.

Granted, the incident happened at 3 a.m., so perhaps the driver was not aware he was close to a major body of water. And granted, the car’s three passengers were 17, 18 and 19 years old, so bad judgment is to be expected.

But get this: The driver alleged to be behind the wheel was 38 years old.

Shame on you, Agatito Hernandez.

The car’s four passengers escaped the submerged 1999 Dodge SUV without injury, though San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said they were shivering from exposure to the water and cold morning air.

Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, reckless driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance and providing false information.

We wonder if “mid-life crisis” makes a legitimate defense in court.
