If you’re looking for some free family fun and want to hit up free day at San Francisco’s California Academy of Sciences, you’ve got fewer options this year.
The Academy has changed their free day policy, down from 12 free Wednesdays to four free Sundays in 2012.
This year, only the following Sundays will be free:
The Academy said they were changing the policy in order to:
“… target more working families, who were previously unable to come on the Wednesday free days. We hope that this change to weekend dates will allow a wider range of people to attend.”
If you haven’t already seen the behemoth 400,000 square foot eco-friendly museum in the middle of Golden Gate Park, you gotta check it out. Complete with a full aquarium, planetarium, and a four-story rain forest, you may need to spend multiple free Sundays in order to take it all in. And, trust me, at $25 for an adult, it’s a true treat to visit the Academy for free.
In addition to the free Sundays, residents in San Francisco zip codes can also visit the Academy for free on specific weekends according to their zip code. Check out The Academy’s website to see the 2012 SF Neighborhood Free Day schedule.
Do plan ahead and arrive early though because The Academy gets very crowded, especially on weekends.
