The sight of Buster Posey running around AT&T Park this summer will be a delight for Giants’ fans sore eyes.
The sight of Buster running in his Georgia hometown is a relief for Giants officials.
Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner noted that for the last two weeks, Buster has been running 30 and 60 yard sprints, doing agility drills and some distance running three times a week.
All of this is to ensure that the most important left leg in the Giants organization is ready to go on Opening Day.
“We’re just building him up right now. So far, so good,” Groeschner told MLB.com’s Chris Haft.
Posey is the linchpin of the Giants offense. If he’s not 100 percent this season, the Giants will suffer. The team needs Posey’s leg to heal properly so that he can play like the 2010 Rookie of the Year.
