Drop in on the Flying Tomato’s halfpipe

Wouldn’t it be cool get a bunch of friends together and play baseball in a replica Yankee Stadium? Or toss a football around on a reproduction of the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field?
While those fantasies will never happen, you actually can carve some snow on an exact duplicate of Olympic Gold medalist Shaun White’s 22-foot, 500-foot long halfpipe.
White is arguably the most recognizable winter sports athlete in the world, with his flowing orange hair and fun personality. And he can do breathtaking things with a snowboard.
The Flying Tomato himself helped build the massive replica at Northstar California, in part so he could train for future events. White signed a deal over the summer with Vail Resorts, owners of Northstar, and now calls Northstar his “home mountain.”
The half-pipe took a staggering 700 hours to build, and was open to the public over the weekend for some runs on the man-made snow coating the mountain.
You wont get famous like an Olympic gold medalist, but for a few minutes, you can act like one.
