Update: San Francisco police have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Frederick Dosier of San Francisco. The Chron reports Dosier was charged with rape, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, robbery and kidnapping.
There’s relief in the Mission tonight after police announced they have arrested a suspect in connection with a number of violent rapes along 24th Street in the Mission.
Mission Local reports that police nabbed a 32-year-old suspect at the Bernal Dwellings at 4:30 Friday afternoon after receiving a tip from a resident.
At a hastily-arranged press conference at the Hall of Justice Friday evening, police announced that the as-of-yet unidentified man was arrested in connection with three similar sexual assaults. An earlier attack in June on South Van Ness between 24th and 25th followed a similar pattern to two later crimes, where the victim was thrown to the ground, dragged away, then robbed and raped.
A community meeting was held last month after a violent rape on 24th and Fair Oaks matched the pattern of an earlier crime in November. Police had announced a $25,000 reward in the case, and said they followed dozens of leads before making this arrest.
The FBI and Daly City police contributed to the extensive investigation. Police said DNA evidence was able to identify the person of interest in this case.

So many of these "people" don't get caught. So this is good, to the extent that there can be anything good about this.
By the way great coverage on it difficult, difficult, story! I was proud to see SFBay.ca do their part (as citizens and not just journalists) by live blogging the town hall meeting.
It's wonderful to see a city and its media come together for these women. So many of them simply become statistics and a good dramatic scoop.
God bless the victims. let's hope this brings them some small measure of peace.
