Bi-Rite Divisadero delayed until at least May

It’s official, direct from owner Sam Mogannam: the new Bi-Rite Market at Divisadero and Hayes has been delayed another four months until “May or June” 2012.

The insanely popular local grocer has pushed back the grand opening of his new San Francisco location for the third time. Bi-Rite’s initial plans, announced in June 2010, were to move in to the old Emblem market space at 736 Divisadero.

In January, the new store shifted two blocks south to 550 Divisadero, next to nopa on the southeast corner. In June, a Bi-Rite rep told Haighteration the grand opening would be pushed back from September to January 2011.

Now, it will be a few more months — May 2012, at least — until the new Bi-Rite Market and Creamery opens its doors. That’s right, there will be ice cream.
