Clips match Warriors’ offer for DeAndre Jordan

Despite their best efforts to upgrade their frontline, the Warriors have come up short yet again.

Restricted free agent DeAndre Jordan will remain with the Los Angeles Clippers after the team matched the Warriors four-year, $43 million offer sheet.

That may not be such a terrible thing. The 6-11 center certainly would have added depth, but they would have been paying nearly $11 million a year for a player who averaged just 7 points and 7 rebounds last year for the Clippers.

That’s not really the investment the Warriors need to be locked in to for an unproven player.

NBA Hall of Famer and Warriors executive board member Jerry West told The Chronicle’s Rusty Simmons that Jordan is the kind of “young, active player” that “people are willing to take a chance on.” But West added, “I’m just not really sure about him.”

Last week, the Warriors missed out on Tyson Chandler, who signed with the New York Knicks. And according to CBSSports.com, big man Nene is narrowed his choices down to Denver and New Jersey, leaving the Warriors with very few remaining options to upgrade the team via free agency.
