Drunks don’t always make the best decisions. In this case, prosecutors allege that an Oakland woman thought it would be a good idea to get hammered and then take a drive with her teen daughter in her SUV.
Authorities say that journey ended when 36-year-old Lasheena Ranee Cardona crashed into a San Mateo fire station, hitting a parked fire truck and leaving her daughter needing nine stitches in the face.
Cardona’s blood alcohol level, tested 90 minutes after the crash, was .31, more than three times the legal limit. Cardona was already on probation for a 2008 misdemeanor for drunk driving.
There were firefighters at the station when the accident happened but no one was injured. However, according to police, the crash caused extensive damage to the building.
Cardona is currently free on a $100,000 bail bond. A jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 17.
