Oregon runs all over Stanford again

That loud sound you heard was a large, heavy tree falling in Palo Alto.

If you predicted that the Ducks would put that kind of hurtin’ on the #4 Cardinal, I hope you called Vegas and got your action in.

LaMichael James and the Ducks (9-1, 7-0) used their freakish speed to run all over the Cardinal in a 53-30 beatdown in Palo Alto. A supposed top five team shouldn’t look that bad. Oregon scored three touchdowns of 40+ yards, including a 58-yard run by James.

The Cardinal looked downright sluggish and once they fell behind the high-flying Ducks, they were in a hole that not even the great Andrew Luck couldn’t get them out of. Luck threw a 13-yard touchdown to Griff Whalen right before halftime to cut the lead to six, giving the Cardinal some hope, but Oregon scored the first two touchdowns of the second half, pushing the lead an insurmountable 36-16 margin.

It’s crystal clear that Stanford just doesn’t have the offensive weapons to compete with the Ducks. Oregon has a handful of players at the skill positions faster than the fastest Cardinal.

The loss snaps Stanford’s 17-game winning streak, the longest in the nation. They can also kiss their national championship hopes goodbye. And Andrew Luck will probably watch someone else raise the Heisman trophy on December 10th.

Last season, Oregon rolled over Stanford 52-31 in Autzen Stadium on their way to the National Title game. Oregon probably wont make it back to the title game this year, but the sweet smell of Roses is filling the air in Eugene.
