Oakland cops are calling in mutual aid from around The Bay to help deal with the planned general strike and 5 p.m. march from 14th and Broadway to the Port of Oakland. The Oakland School of the Arts, near 18th and Telegraph, is closing Wednesday “for the safety” of their students, while the president of the Oakland teacher’s union warns “hundreds” of their teachers may skip class and join the general strike.
Meanwhile, San Francisco Sheriff Michael Hennessey denied Occupy Oakland’s allegation that a S.F. deputy fired the concussion grenade that injured protester Scott Olsen last week, saying “we don’t even have those weapons.”
