From iPhone-screen vigils to Post-it note tributes, Apple fans have spent weeks remembering the legacy of Steve Jobs. Sunday night, friends and family honored the visionary Apple co-creator at a private memorial at Stanford.
After a 90-minute service at Memorial Church, several hundred guests walked along a candlelit path to an outdoor reception. The Merc reports former VP Al Gore, News Corp. honcho Rupert Murdoch, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Google co-founder Larry Page were among the luminaries in attendance.
Though Jobs never attended Stanford — or, famously, even graduated from college — his links there run deep. In addition to Jobs’ now-legendary 2005 commencement address, the university houses the world’s largest collection of Apple-related items, a treasure trove of documents, photos, software and hardware.
