First gay NBA exec is new Warriors president

Barely four months ago, then-Phoenix Suns President Rick Welts announced to the world what friends and colleagues already knew: That he was gay.

On Tuesday, less than three weeks after leaving the Suns — insisting he wasn’t headed for “greener pastures” —  Welts was introduced by the Warriors their new team president.

The Warriors aren’t exactly greener pastures than the Suns, so we won’t ding Welts any honesty points for how he left Phoenix.
